Rachel Cooper – Supervisor and Head Instructor (Toronto)

Rachel Cooper has nearly a decade of aquatic experience, including instructing, lifeguarding, supervising and administrating. In addition to her Red Cross and Lifesaving Society Instructors and National Lifeguard Service qualifications, Rachel is also certified as a Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor and Aquatic Supervisor. She is also qualified as a St. John’s Ambulance Advanced Medical First Responder and an international Red Cross medic. In her spare time, Rachel can be found running, cycling, travelling, volunteering or spending time at her cottage.


Piper H.(Toronto)

Piper has been a swim instructor and lifeguard for over eight years, with certifications in both the Red Cross and Lifesaving Society. Her experience ranges from instruction in parent and tot, all the way to the elderly and everything in between. Her background as a competitive Track and Field athlete has given her the edge needed to train and coach high performance athletes as well. She is a certified personal trainer of five years and will be acquiring her yoga instructor certification in 2012. She has worked for the City of Toronto, University of Toronto, Goodlife and Mayfair Clubs. She is an avid cyclist, dancer, singer and in her spare time seeks out adventure. She always up for a good challenge and will meet you at whatever level you’re at!


Chenel L. (Toronto)

Hello, my name is Chenel and I have been teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding for six years. I began taking swim lessons with the City of Toronto at a young age and continued to pursue my passion for the sport by competing on my high school swim team. I have experience teaching children and adults, as well as instructing Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross lifesaving courses.

I am a recent graduate of Niagara College’s Environmental Management and Assessment Post-Grad Program. Prior to studying at Niagara College, I completed my undergraduate studies in Geography and Sociology at the University of Toronto. I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle by swimming, biking and practicing yoga whenever I get the chance!


Catherine L. (Toronto, Markham, Mississauga, Vaughan)

Catherine has over 6 years of specialized experience teaching people who have physical or developmental disabilities. She has worked one-on-one with kids in various aquatic settings such as hospitals, lakes, and private pools.

She is a Waterloo graduate and currently studying behavior science at George Brown. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and starting to learn Mandarin. She enjoys cross country running, painting, and dragon boat racing!


Julia F. (Toronto)

Julia has been teaching swimming for 7 years and is passionate about passing on her knowledge and love of the water to her students! She has taught all levels of swim instruction including parent-and-tot and adult learn-to-swim.

She spent a summer at Camp Tanamakoon in Algonquin Park, teaching swimming and first aid to students from 10-14 years old in an outdoor setting and was also a member of her high school swim team and competed at OFSSA.

When she’s not at the pool, you can find Julia walking her dog ‘Baker’, reading, or adjusting her chakras at the local yoga studio.


Ahmed Z. (Milton, Oakville, Mississauga, Georgetown)

Ahmed has over 12 years of Aquatics Management and Instructing experience. He has acted as the National Swimming Team Manager for Dubai at world swimming championship and several international events.

Ahmed has taught hundreds of kids and adults in both a learn to swim and competitive environment. Among his numerous certifications, he is a member of the World Swimming Coaches Association and is Level 3 certified with the American Swimming Coaches Association. He has also trained and certified numerous lifeguards, surgeons and physicians in lifesaving, First Aid & CPR courses. In his spare time, Ahmed loves to fish.


Mannat K. (Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan)

My name is Mannat and I am a third year student at the University of Toronto. I am majoring in Human Biology as well as double minoring in psychology and chemistry. I’ve been swimming as far back in my life as I can remember. My swimming career started off with a personal coach who inspired and motivated me to swim. He taught me everything I know. I’ve done competitive swimming for 4 years and now following in his footsteps, I have been teaching swimming for 3 years with the City of Brampton and working as a lifeguard for other private companies. I have taught all levels for infants, children, teens and adults. In my free time, I like to read interesting fantasy books – my free trip away from reality. I also love to travel and I do natural photography as well.


Sara H. (Toronto)

My name is Sara and I am a third year student at the University of Toronto. I am majoring in Human Biology: Health and Disease as well as double minoring in psychology and Italian. I have been teaching swimming for 4 years now. I have taught all levels from sunfish through to Red Cross level ten for children and adults alike. I learned how to swim in my public school swimming classes and at first did not even want to take extra curricular swimming lessons, and now I am teaching it! I speak English, French, Italian and very little Cantonese. I love playing basketball and play as much as of it as I can whenever I get the chance!


Olivia R. (Aurora, Newmarket, King City, Richmond Hill)

Olivia has been teaching swimming lessons in Aurora, Newmarket, Oak Ridges and King City for four years. Her favourite level to teach is Sea Turtle. When she’s not teaching, she loves to play the piano and trumpet. Olivia is going into her fourth year at Queen’s University majoring in English Language and Literature with a minor in Music Performance.


Lucy W. (Toronto, Pickering)

Lucy has 15 years of combined competitive swimming, coaching and instructing experience. She began her swimming career with Scarborough Swim Team, and went on to coach for Mississauga Aquatic Club, one of the biggest competitive swim clubs in Ontario.
She began instructing young children when she was still in high school, then broadened her experience by working with adults. She specializes in stroke mechanics and is a provincial and national Masters’ swimming champion in butterfly.
She recently completed her degree of Forensic Science from University of Toronto and is also a Can-Fit-Pro certified personal trainer. She loves rock climbing, going to the movies, and is an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.


Kayla R. (Markham, Toronto)

My name is Kayla and I am looking forward to my second year with AquaMobile Swim School. Swimming has always been a passion of mine and I chose to extend it into my professional life. I have been both a lifeguard and instructor for the past five years, during which I have worked at several pools for both the Town of Markham and the YMCA. I am currently finishing up my fourth year and first degree at The University of Toronto and look forward to continuing my education in the coming years. As for the summer, I’m excited to be back in the water teaching!


Robert D. (Toronto)

My name is Robert, and I am a recent Queen’s University graduate. I studied Biology and Health Sciences, and I plan on continuing in research this fall at the University of Toronto in Pharmacology and Toxicology.
I have been an Instructor/Lifeguard since 2005. I have taught swimming lessons for 6 years
to a variety of students of varying levels of experience. My qualifications extend to both Swim Instructors, as well as Lifesaving Instructors, allowing me to teach both swimming and first aid.
As a current competitive swimmer for Queen’s Varsity Swim Team, I have acquired a solid background in the 4 strokes (back, front, butterfly and breaststroke) and have perfected my technique. With this knowledge, I am able to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of my students and adapt my teaching methods to ensure they receive the most effective training possible.
In my spare time, I am an avid movie enthusiast. I enjoy movies from foreign cinema to children cartoons. I also play a variety of sports, and my summer favourite is beach volleyball on The Beaches in Toronto. This summer, I plan on taking up sailing with my friends, and travelling to Vancouver near the end to visit some university friends. My other hobbies include music, shopping, travelling and reality TV.


Sharon L. (Toronto)

Hi! My name is Sharon and I’m a recent graduate from Ryerson’s Nutrition & Food program. I have been teaching swimming for over 6 years and have been swimming for as long as I can remember. I have worked as Supervising Pool Manager and Head Instructor at a number of pools within the City of Toronto. I have taught children and adults from beginner to competitive swimmers as well as a number of AquaFit and Leadership courses. My hobbies include snowboarding, travelling and eating.


Sylvia A. (Caledon, Brampton, Georgetown)

Hi ! My name is Sylvia and I am a student at McMaster University, studying Biochemistry. I have enjoyed working as a Swimming instructor, Lifesaving instructor and Lifeguard for the past 5 years for the City of Mississauga and with AquaMobile. I was enrolled in swimming lessons at a very young age and I truly believe swimming lessons not only build confidence but are an important skill to have, and they’re fun too ! I look forward to swimming with you this summer!


Caitlin T. (Toronto)

Caitlin has worked as a lifeguard, swimming instructor and Aquafit instructor for over 12 years with the City of Toronto and YMCA Aquatic programs. Not only is Caitlin certified as a lifesaving society swim instructor, she is qualified as an instructor trainer for NLS and Standard First Aid/CPR-C.
Outside of the pool, Caitlin is a competitive distance runner, who competed for both Laurentian University and Queen’s University varsity cross country running and track and field programs. She is also a high school physical education teacher, who aims to inspire youth to stay active every day.


Shoshawnah R. (Vaughan, Woodbridge, Thornhill, Toronto)

Hello, my name is Shoshawnah. I have just graduated from York University with a Specialized Honours degree in History. I have taught swimming lessons for the last 8 years at camps and for the City of Barrie and have loved every second of it. I believe in teaching swimming as a way to spread awareness but also love for water. Through the years of my experience I have gained many other specialized courses. My qualifications include Lifesaving, Advanced, and Standard First Aid Instructors, NLS pool and waterfront, Advanced and SFA Examiners, Advanced Supervisor Training, Water Polo and Diving (Levels 1-4) Instructor, as well as my Scuba Diving Licence. My hobbies include rugby, swimming, any outdoor activities, and lots of reading.


Lubo K. (Mississauga, Oakville)

My name is Lubo and I am a recent University of Toronto graduate. I am aspiring to become an elementary school teacher and will be continuing my studies with a Bachelor of Education at the UOIT this fall. I have worked as an Instructor/Lifeguard for the City of Mississauga for the past five years, where I taught swimmers of all ages and levels. In addition to instructing, I have an abundance of teaching experience as a counselor, educational tour guide, volunteer, and coach. My hobbies include travelling, reading, playing volleyball, photography, and skiing.


Christina S. (Oakville, Burlington)

Hi! My name is Christina and I am currently a student at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. I am happy to be back home this summer and teaching with AquaMobile Swim School. I have been teaching swimming for 5 years and am qualified to teach Learn to Swim and Lifesaving levels including Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross.

My involvement in swimming lessons began at a young age and caused me to get involved in synchronized swimming, diving, and competitive swimming. This wide variety of swimming has helped build my base for strong swimming and I continue to use these skills in my teaching.

Kinsey B. (Mississauga, Oakville)

Hi my name is Kinsey. I currently study at McGill University and am excited to be home teaching swimming for the summer! I have three years experience with the City of Mississauga teaching a wide range of lessons, including parent and tot, adult lessons, junior lifesaving, and all swimmer levels. I have worked the past two summers at Camp Mini-Yo-We up in Muskoka. I have experience in the waterfront as well as acting as a program director and cabin leader. After moving away for school, I was hired at the YMCA downtown Montreal as a part-time swim instructor and lifeguard. I am a passionate, outgoing and positive individual and I look forward to meeting you and working with you this summer!


Katie S. (Mississauga)

Katie has over 11 years’ experience in completive swimming. Katie swam for 6 years Mississauga aquatic club, where she is now swimming on the Varsity team at Brock University. Katie has 8 years experiences with the aquatics industry working as an instructor, lifeguard, and deck supervisor and coaching. She worked community pools for the City of Mississauga teaching all ages and skill levels of experiences to ensure that they feel safe, comfortable and confident in the water.

Katie has coached at the Wave Development for Mississauga Aquatic Club and now at Olympic Wave with Brock Niagara Region of children ages 6-14. Katie’s favourite event to swim at her competition is 100 and 200 butterfly. Katie is attending school at Brock University in a double major of Child and Youth Studies and Sociology and minor in Criminology.


Daniele A. (Woodbridge, Vaughan, Toronto)

My name is Daniele and I am a third year Engineering student at the University of Toronto. I began competitive swimming at the age of nine, and I have competed on the Vaughan Aquatic Club, the Father Bressani High School swim team, and the University of Toronto Varsity swim team. I have achieved many medals at the provincial level, at both the club and high school level.
All my experiences in swimming have allowed me to improve my understanding of the technical aspects of swimming, and how I can best communicate these ideas with my students. I am very happy to be spending the summer instructing, as swimming is truly one of my favourite hobbies, and I enjoy teaching children and adults alike.


Adam B. (Thornhill, Richmond Hill, North York)

Hi! My name is Adam and I am a 3rd year Life Science student at McMaster University. I was enrolled in swimming lessons at a young age, and have been splashing around ever since. I have worked as a lifeguard and a swim instructor for several years at a day camp in Toronto with children aged 2-16, at all different levels. In the winter my swim trunks become snow pants and I get to teach my favourite sport, skiing. When not instructing I love to listen and play music, travel, and enjoy the outdoors. I look forward to swimming with you this summer!
