From waterfalls to water parks, this state has plenty to offer. Now let’s dive into our 6 best swimming holes in Arizona!

1. Fossil Creek

Fossil Creek has possibly the clearest water of all Arizona’s swimming holes. Work on your tan or do some bird-watching in the area. Your kids will also love splashing under the waterfall! The short hike down the trail makes taking a dip that much more refreshing. Bring a pair of water shoes along because the rocks can be quite slippery.

Overnight camping is also available. Be sure to avoid booking between April 1 and October because it is not available between these times. It only costs $6 to get in. This is a small price to pay for the memories that you will make during your visit.

2. West Clear Creek

Come here if you want to avoid the crowds! The water is warm and quite shallow, which makes it ideal for families with young children. Head a little upstream and you will find a shaded area that will keep you safe from the sun. Maybe bring your inflatable tube along to get some much needed rest.

The gravel beach is what ties this swimming hole together. Pull up a chair and relax with a good book while keeping an eye on your kids as they play!

3. Havasu Falls

Havasu Falls is tucked into the Grand Canyon. It’s also the most visited swimming hole in all of Arizona. As part of Havasupai Creek, they attract thousands of visitors every year. It’s also one of the most photographed spots in all of the Grand Canyon!

The water ranges in depth from 4-5 feet in most areas. The cottonwood trees also offer shade to stay cool when you go for a swim. This is a spot that’s better for older children as it takes an 11-mile hike to reach. However, it is well worth the trip. Havasu Falls has been voted America’s best swimming hole by Life Magazine!

Wet’n’Wild is 35 acres and is the largest theme park in Arizona. There are seven water slides and two children’s play areas. An attraction worth checking out is Maximum Velocity, which has two tandem tubes that race side-by-side down a slippery slope. This is the first and only ride of its kind in the world. This is conveniently located within Phoenix city limits. So there’s no excuse not to pay this place a visit this summer!

5. Slide Rock State Park

swimholes-5This park was formerly known as Pendley Homestead. This was an apple orchard that dates back to the 1900s. The location takes advantage of the natural rock slide into the waist-high waters of Oak Creek. The water is much cooler than other places on the list, but still fairly easy to get to.

It’s also not that far from civilization. A nearby general store sells sunscreen and ice cream for the kids. Lots of other people love Oak Creek. It’s quite popular to visit. So remember to get here bright and early to get a parking spot and shady spot to sit along the side of the creek.

6. Seven Falls

The Bear Canyon region of Sabino Creek is Southern Arizona’s gem. Close to Tucson, you can enjoy a -mile hike to these beautiful and cascading falls. There is a Visitor Center that has trams that cut the commute time in half. They leave every hour, on the hour.

Be sure to be a confident swimmer before visiting this swimming hole. Like other swimming holes in Arizona, there is a small current. Consider taking private swimming lessons from AquaMobile to have the time of your life this time!
