Hi! My name is Isabella, and I'm a certified and experienced swim instructor and lifeguard with a genuine passion for all things aquatic! I'm dedicated to fostering a safe and positive learning environment for all my students while focusing on continual skill development. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and exciting environment where all my swimmers thrive and find the same love for being in the water that I have. My own aquatic journey began early with my competitive swimming career. I specialized in long-distance ocean swims as a member of Ecuador's National Swim Team in 2021–2022, which led to my participation in the 19th FINA World Championships in Budapest in 2022. I also swam for the Asphalt Green United Aquatics (AGUA) team in Manhattan, which led me to Wesleyan University, where I spent my freshman year competing on the Varsity Swim Team. This extensive background in swimming provides me with an understanding of various techniques, endurance, and the simple joy of being in the water. Transitioning away from varsity swimming has allowed me to direct all my energy into teaching children, but swimming remains my absolute greatest joy! I am currently a rising junior at Wesleyan, studying psychology and education studies, with a focus on early childhood development. Teaching swim lessons allows me to perfectly combine my technical swimming background with my deep love for working with children! In addition to managing the volunteer swim lesson program at Wesleyan, I have been a swim instructor at the YMCA since September 2023, teaching children aged 3-12, and am also thrilled to have recently joined the incredible team at Imagine Swimming! I began my role as a lifeguard in 2023, and I hold both YMCA and Red Cross certifications. Therefore, my number one priority is always maintaining the safety of numerous swimmers through active monitoring and the implementation of emergency protocols. I am also fluent in Spanish and proficient in Italian, which enables me to connect with a diverse range of families and create inclusive, welcoming learning environments in the pool. There is truly nothing better than celebrating those breakthrough pool milestones with plenty of high-fives and pure giggles! Whether your goals are to build basic water safety, master stroke mechanics, or build some hardcore endurance, I can't wait to help your child discover a lifelong love for the water! (Fun Fact: I specialized in open-water swimming for most of my swimming career, so I've spent countless hours swimming alongside sea turtles, jellyfish, and schools of fish! These moments I spent in the ocean were wild and unforgettable adventures that solidified my own lifelong bond and joy for being in the water!)
