Starts, turns and finishes are everything that happens at the wall: arriving safely, pushing off, turning and finishing a length. They help lap swimmers and children heading to a swim team, and any diving is taught in lessons only, where the instructor has confirmed the water is deep enough.
Your child learns to push off the wall with their feet, stretch out long and glide straight into swimming. It gives every length a smooth, easy start.

Your child learns to count strokes into the wall on their back, then turn and push off again without bumping their head. It makes backstroke safer and smoother, whether they swim for fun or on a team.

Your child learns the special start to each breaststroke length: a glide, one long underwater pull and a kick up into swimming. It gives every push-off a smooth burst of speed, and it is part of every breaststroke race.

Your child learns to keep swimming right to the wall and touch it cleanly, instead of drifting in at the end. It helps racers finish strong and helps lap swimmers end every length calmly.

Your child learns to change from one stroke to the next at the wall, as swimmers do in a medley. It brings all four strokes together, and it is a proud step for young team swimmers.
