Hello, my name is Cynthia. I began teaching swimming during High School in Oregon. I continued in Paris, France primarily at Piscine d’Auteuil in the 16th. Recently a colleague requested I work with her daughters prior to a swimming test at Stuyvesant. I was an amateur triathlete in the Mid-Atlantic for five years. In December 2013 I achieved my goal of completing a marathon in every state. In May 2014 I ran the NYC Half with a 62 year old cancer survivor who I coached through L&LS TNT program. I love being in the water and sharing the joy of being comfortable in the water.
Prior credentials with American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Adaptive Aquatics Instructor (AAI). M.A. Instructional Systems Development (Training & Development), B.A. Psychology and B.A. French. Transferable skills: experience working with multilingual individuals, experience working with physically and mentally challenged individuals, experience with learning disabled individuals. I possess a high level of patience, compassion and kindness.
Working with individuals who are fearful of the water, often due to a traumatic event. Coaching athletes on stroke, kick and breathing techniques to assist with fatigue issues.
