Hi! I am 20 years old and I have over 2 years experience in teaching people how to swim. My method of teaching is to let my students learn at their own pace as not to upset and discourage my swimmers about future lessons. I like to make my lessons both fun and effective and of course safety is the most important aspect learning how to swim so all my students will be taught how to be safe in and around the water. I have been swimming since before I could walk and my entire childhood involved me being in the pool. I think I spent more time in the water than I did on land. I enjoy being around kids and being able to teach people how to be safe in and around the water to help bring the joy of swimming to people.
In my 2 years of teaching I have taught about 100 students all of which saw great improvement. I teach people of all ages from infants to adults and many people with disabilities and special needs I was also a swim team coach for the Bellmore Safe-T-Swim, swim team. One of my favorite experiences while teaching was when I got a new student, he was about 3 years old and he was deathly afraid of going near the water because of a pervious accident he had in the pool and with in the first 20 minutes I was able to get him to play in the water on the steps of the pool. then after about 4 lessons he was able to jump in to the pool on his own and he was able to swim under water from the wall to me and back to the wall. I am very happy that I was able to get this child to enjoy being in the pool again because I feel that everybody should be able to have fun and enjoy being in the water.
