Kately R.

Kately R.

Hi! My name is Kately, and I am a swim instructor who is passionate about helping swimmers build confidence and stay safe in the water. I have been swimming since I was 5 years old, and I completed the YMCA swimming program. I also played varsity water polo for 3 years and varsity swim for 4 years in high school. I am certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid, and I’m qualified to teach children and adults of all skill levels. I have experience working with young children and families, including one year as a paraeducator, which has strengthened my patience, communication, and ability to adapt lessons to each swimmer’s unique learning style. I’m also comfortable working with children with different learning needs. I enjoy teaching water safety, beginner swim skills, and helping swimmers develop proper stroke technique while building confidence in the water. I am great at all strokes, but my best strokes are backstroke and freestyle. My goal is to create a fun, encouraging, and safe environment where every swimmer can learn at their own pace. I look forward to helping you or your child become a stronger, safer, and more confident swimmer!

Lily L.

Lily L.

Hi, my name is Lily, and I’ve been swimming for as long as I can remember. I grew up in San Diego, where I learned to swim at just four years old and spent countless days at the beach developing a deep love and respect for the water. In high school, I was a competitive swimmer on my school’s swim team, qualifying for championships each year and competing at state meets. Those experiences strengthened not only my technical skills, but also my discipline, perseverance, and understanding of proper swim technique. After high school, I joined the United States Navy, where I continued to build on my passion for swimming. I completed my physical readiness swim tests and swam regularly to stay in peak condition. My time in the Navy further reinforced the importance of water safety, strength, and confidence in the water. Today, as a mom, I’ve successfully taught all of my children how to swim, combining my lifelong experience with patience and encouragement. I am passionate about helping swimmers of all ages build confidence, improve their skills, and feel safe in the water. I look forward to helping you or your child develop a lifelong love of swimming!

I love to help children and adults learn how to increase their confidence levels in the water as they practice and progress with swimming and life-saving skills. I have taught public and private swim lessons for over 10 years in the Bay Area. If students want to learn, I can help them enjoy the experience and have fun in the process.

Valerie B.

Valerie B.

Hello! My name is Valerie and I’m a transferring junior at UC Berkeley. My interest in lifeguarding and swim lessons arises from being a competitive swimmer since I was 4 years old. This lifelong background of various aquatic facilities, swim techniques, and pool safety makes me a great fit for your pool! I currently hold certifications in Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and also First Aid. With these active certifications, I have had more than two years of experience lifeguarding in a wide range of environments. At both my previous and current lifeguarding jobs, I have received recognition via “Guard of the Week” titles, honors given to me due to multiple rescues and first aid administrations. Although I do not have direct experience with teaching swim lessons, I have observed hundreds of them during my time lifeguarding. Additionally, my 18 years of experience on many different swim teams provides me with a very strong background in swimming basics, techniques, and how swim classes are structured for all ages. I am also great with kids! Growing up with a younger sibling almost a decade younger than me has put me in the built-in babysitter position, which has offered me a good background in childcare and child psychology. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio! I hope to hear from you soon.
