Job Requirements for King City
As an AquaMobile swim instructor in King City, you will need:
- Up-to-date First Aid & CPR certification: Obtain a two-year certification from the Canadian Red Cross or Lifesaving Society. Classes are available at Lifeline + CPR or Coast2Coast First Aid/CPR.
- Swim Instructor/Lifeguard certification: Get a valid certificate after passing the American Red Cross practical and written exams. Check out courses from the Township of King and the Lifesaving Society.
- Access to reliable transportation: York Region Transit (regional bus system that makes four stops in town including one at Seneca College’s King Campus), Uber/Lyft (rideshare services), cab (GTA Cab, King City Taxi Service, etc.), personal car
- Two or more years of swim teaching/coaching and/or lifeguarding experience
- A love for swimming and a passion for teaching
Applicants who don’t meet the following requirements will still be considered for the role, providing all relevant qualifications/checks are obtained prior to starting.

The Lifeguarding Academy offers First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard Training to all swimmers. This is the location of the head office, which schedules courses. You can find classes at other nearby locations and book them on the company’s website.
Swimming Careers in King City
Sometimes you can love something so much that you want to turn it into a career! Here are some of the options for swimming careers in King City.
- Water Park Lifeguard: Most lifeguards work at swimming pools. However, tending to water attractions is more interesting. Work at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, which isn’t far from King City.
- Pool Concierge: Take on the role of a receptionist at your favourite place, the pool. You will keep the pool area clean and tidy while checking in guests. Working at Life Time gym in Maple is an option that’s about ten minutes from King City.
- Baby Swim Teacher: Help little ones take their first dip into the pool. You will help little ones with basic techniques such as blowing bubbles and splashing around. Water Babies in Maple and Trillium Recreation in Toronto are popular employers. If you’re willing to travel from King City, both jobs are great opportunities.

You will be responsible for supervising hotel guests swimming in the indoor pool. Other responsibilities include monitoring water quality and checking the pool furniture.
- Swimming Rehabilitation Teacher: Help those with injuries get back into their favourite sport. Your job is to create lesson plans that improve muscle strength and are easy on the joints. Close to King City, you can work at Hydroactive Aqua Therapy and Rehabilitation Center or you can travel to Toronto to work at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
