Greta, New South Wales is a small town named after the small river in Cumberland, England. The town recognizes the contributions of immigrants to modern Australian life. The Immigration Plaque is used to recognize all of the nationalities that worked in the Greta Migrant Camp from 1949 to 1961. Another piece of history in town is Tattersall’s Hotel, which is the only one in town. It was built in 1910 and was originally a timber building with iron lacework!
