Here at TELUS, we have always believed in giving back to communities across Canada. Simply put, one of our core values is to give where we live. That’s why we are so thrilled to offer our Small Business Challenge winner a new additional prize: the opportunity to give back to their community through a $10,000 donation from TELUS to the charity of their choice.
It’s not an easy decision to pick just one charity to support, but Diana and the AquaMobile team firmly believe that swimming is a vital life-saving skill everyone needs. Being safe and confident in the water can literally save your life, and successfully learning to swim is also a huge confidence builder for many children and adults. That’s why Diana and her team decided to donate to Holland Bloorview, Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital. Holland Bloorview focuses on improving the lives of kids with disabilities—and swimming lessons and pool therapies play a large part in the work they do.
“As a small business, we give back as much as we can, but it’s not always in such a large donation,” Diana told us. “So to be able to do that, and to make such a huge impact in one area, is really exciting.” Diana is especially excited to see the donation used towards swimming lessons for these children, as well as specialized training scholarships for swim instructors on providing additional care for children with special needs.
The TELUS and AquaMobile teams are very proud to support Holland Bloorview, and we know that this $10,000 donation is going to better the lives of many of our community members. We also hope it inspires other business owners and community members to give where they live, and make giving back a part of their everyday business.
