Pool owners know the basics of maintenance. Skimming regularly, vacuuming, maintaining pH levels and changing filters are things that we do not look forward to. Cleaning a pool is never as fun as swimming in it, but it does keep you safe from pool chemicals. Never fear! AquaMobile is here with pool hacks that save you time on cleaning and give you more time to swim!
Follow our tips and your pool will be clean with plenty of time to spare!
Pool Hack #1: Super Skimmer
Normal skimmer baskets do a fine job. However, there is a way to give them a little help. Wrap an old pair of pantyhose around the skimmer basket to turn it into a super skimmer!
The pantyhose will filter out debris that a regular skimmer might not catch. Examples include sand, hair and fine dirt. Always clean out the skimmer basket once a week and continue to skim the surface of the pool regularly.
Pool Hack #2: Serves Up!
Who knew tennis balls had so many functions? Toss some new tennis balls onto the surface of your pool or skimmers. This way your water will be clean and crystal-clear.
Be sure to do this hack after everyone gets out of the water. This is because tennis balls absorb natural body oils, sunscreen and makeup left behind by swimmers.
Pool Hack #3: Baking Soda
Baking soda can be used for most of your cleaning needs. You can use it in your kitchen, bathroom and even your pool to make any area shine again!
Baking soda and water and easily clean your pool tiles. Mix these ingredients to create a paste and use it to make your pool tile spick and span and prevent algae growth.
Baking soda also maintains your pool’s pH level. One pound of baking soda is equal to most alkalinity products on the market. So you can use baking soda to boost your pool alkaline and pH levels for a small price!
Pool Hack #4: Bugs Be Gone
Pesky bugs can quickly ruin your time in the pool. Lemongrass plants can quickly become a giant flyswatter. Its skin is lined with citronella that mosquitos and other bugs despise. So do some gardening and stop bugs from ruining your pool party and ending up in your skimmer or filter.
Pesky wasps can be a pain, especially because they can sting! Place faux wasp nests to keep these winged fiends away. Fill a brown paper bag with plastic bags and place it close to your pool. Wasps are territorial and will avoid areas with other “nests” nearby.
Pool Hack #5: D.E. Powder
Sand filters do not always do their job. They are meant to get fine particles out of your pool. Add a cup of D.E. powder to your skimmer and let it run through your system.
This will boost the effectiveness of your sand filter and keep your pool clear of any cloudiness.
